Integrating and Coordinating Experiential Learning in the Entrepreneurship Curriculum
At OSU we are deeply committed to experiential learning, where students learn by doing. That is, students are better able to grasp core entrepreneurship content by applying what they are learning from readings and lectures to real world situations. We subscribe to a ‘portfolio concept’, where students are given opportunities to build ‘experience portfolios’ while they are enrolled in entrepreneurship courses. These opportunities are integrated into the curriculum. Each entrepreneurship course offered at the undergraduate and master’s levels has an experiential learning opportunity built into it. In one course, it might be a business model, while in another it might be a small business consulting project, a marketing invention, an entrepreneurial audit, or a business plan.
Below is an overview of some of the experiential learning opportunities tied to each of our courses at the undergraduate and master’s levels.
